I am a dedicated and accomplished educator with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I graduated magna cum laude from Utah Tech University (formerly Dixie State University of Utah) in May 2011. I hold a Utah Professional Educator License with an ESL endorsement and have received training in the SIOP model. Since graduating, I have served in a variety of educational roles, including classroom teacher for 3rd, 5th, and 6th grades; Reading Specialist for Kindergarten through 2nd grade; instructor; and paraprofessional across multiple schools. These diverse experiences have deepened my commitment to student-centered learning and inclusive education.
I was raised in Kanagawa, Japan (south of Tokyo). After getting married, I lived in Memphis, Yokohama (Japan), San Francisco, and several cities in Utah. I’m a proud mother of two college students and am supported by a wonderful husband. Outside of teaching, I enjoy traveling, spending time in nature, scuba diving, photography, music, and Zumba. I also hold a master's license in Japanese calligraphy and enjoy teaching this traditional art to both children and adults.
I am grateful to be part of the Ascent community as an ELL teacher, where I continue to grow as an educator and contribute to the success and development of our students.
