My name is Kelly Oja and I’m so elated to be a part of the Ascent Academy team here in Lehi.

I’m from the beautifully lush and green parts of Oregon where I fell in love with music and the great outdoors at a very young age.  After attending Brigham Young University and completing my bachelor’s degree in music in 2018, I moved to New York City to continue my musical education in jazz studies at New York University. I have performed with numerous other musicians, symphonies, pit orchestras, bands, and in all sorts of venues from Casper, Wyoming to Harare, Zimbabwe. I have been teaching music for over 10 years and I am incredibly passionate about music and education - it's my favorite!

Other than teaching and performing, I'm a total film nerd and I enjoy reading, composing music, traveling, running, biking, and pretty much anything outdoors. I also LOVE Star Wars and my super-cute dog, Copper.    

I’m looking forward to another year meeting and working with the students at Ascent Academy and instilling a love for all things music. See you soon, and Rock On!
