Biography

My name is Jill Zuniga and I am the School Counselor here at Ascent Academy West Valley.  I received my Bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2001, majoring in both Psychology and Sociology and went on to earn my Masters degree in Counseling in 2010. 

I have worked extensively with children in both educational and therapeutic settings for many years. I have experience in educational direct support roles in the classroom and prior to working for Ascent, I conducted individual, family, and group therapy in various clinical settings. Although I greatly enjoy supporting students' academic learning in the classroom, my truest passion is helping students with their social and emotional needs. I am honored to be one of the individuals who assists students in working through their struggles and delight in celebrating with them when they achieve their breakthroughs!  

While I have lived in Utah since 2006, I am originally from Oregon and still consider myself to be a proud Oregonian! I love both college and pro football (Go DUCKS and 49ers!), so naturally my favorite time of year is the fall! I really enjoy traveling and my favorite thing to do is spend time with my husband, our 2 daughters, and 2 dogs.
