Hello I'm Mrs. Dutson, the librarian for the North Building and the 3rd graders in the South Building. This is my 3rd year with Ascent and I love my job! I thrive on communication and expression through words and dance. I graduated with a degree in secondary education and a teaching license in English and Dance Teaching from Weber State University. I have been married for over 20 years, have 3 awesome kids of my own, 1 gigantic dog, and have taught creative dance for 18 years.
A few things I love; family and friends, the ocean, San Diego, Tim McGraw, summer nights, and creativity.
A few things I don't love; black licorice, eating or smelling fish, scary movies, snakes, and feeling rushed.
The North Library theme is "Climb those mountains, reach those PEAKS" because I love thinking about life's challenges as mountains that students can navigate through. “Reading a book is a lot like climbing a mountain…Reading isn’t only for pleasure or entertainment. Sometimes you need to examine the same lines deeply, read the same sentences over again. Sometimes you sit there, head in hands, only progressing at a painstakingly slow pace. And the result of all this hard work and careful study is that suddenly you’re there and your field of vision expands. It’s like finding a great view at the end of a long climbing trail.”

I'm excited for another year being among our outstanding students and so many awesome books!
