Before moving into the second-grade classroom, I spent three years as a Beverly Taylor Sorenson (BTS) music specialist at Ascent, using the arts to enrich learning across K-6 classroom curriculums. I hold a bachelor’s degree in music from Brigham Young University, am fluent in Russian, and earned my Utah teaching license through the state’s Alternate Pathway to Professional Educator Licensure (APPEL). My background in music and the arts continues to shape the creativity, collaboration, and curiosity I bring to my classroom.

My professional learning has focused on enrichment, student engagement, and creating meaningful learning experiences for children. In 2023 and 2024 I attended Confratute at the University of Connecticut, with a focus on gifted education and the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM). I currently serve as an SEM and Cluster coach at Ascent. I have also facilitated SEM training at both the campus and network levels and am trained in Kagan Cooperative Learning.

I believe children learn deeply when they have opportunities to ask questions, explore ideas, work with others, and connect their learning to themselves and the world around them. I love creating experiences that spark curiosity and creativity while helping students develop the strong academic skills they need to succeed.

Most of all, I want students to know that their ideas matter. My goal is to create a classroom where children belong, feel safe taking risks and making mistakes, and have opportunities to discover their strengths as they grow into confident, independent learners.

In my spare time, I love gardening, playing Pokémon GO with my kids, and having impromptu sing-alongs with friends and family.
