I am a proud mother of 5 children. One being my nephew that my amazing husband Pete and I are raising. My kids range in age from 15 years old to 6 months. Pete and I have been happily married since May 2007. I enjoy cooking alongside my husband and kids. We also like to take adventures outdoors, from fishing to camping. Family time is my favorite past time! Frances, my beautiful grandmother, raised me on the Navajo Reservation (Rough Rock, Arizona) since I was a toddler. I am proud to read, write, and speak Navajo. It's nice to tell people that I am bilingual. Being married to a Martinez, most people assume I'm hispanic or can speak Spanish. I moved up here in 1995. I have worked in the food industry since I was 16. I've had the pleasure of working in various places from the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City (McDonald's), Ogden Regional Medical Center, School Districts, and a variety of restaurants. I bring my different work experiences and ideas to my current position here at Ascent as CNP Coordinator. I love that our nutrition program here at Ascent is "Not your typical school lunch!". One of my favorite things about this program and the schools is the diversity. I enjoy seeing our students engage and participate in our various nutrition offerings during meal times.
